Mac McLennan is a self taught artist born in Glasgow in 1959. A former Royal Marine, sea kayaker and fly fisherman, much of Mac's time was spent around the highlands and islands of the west coast.
Mac aims to recreate these dramatic conditions on canvas using a mixture of mediums including oil, inks, acrylic, glaze and structure paste. Although his paintings have an abstract appearance, they strongly suggest the combination of mist, mountains and lochs found in our landscape.
It is a stunning place with some of the most varied geological features on the planet. Add to this the dramatic ever changing light conditions and it is easy to understand why it has been the inspiration for his artwork.
